The shipyard was
founded in 1965 by Dimitris Basimakopoulos.
The original
area less than 2.000 m2 of which 80 m2 workshop and 120 m2 indoor
space. The equipment was minimal.
In this area were
constructed more than 350 wooden boats of all types, many of which still
sail over seas. With much love and handiwork, Dimitris Basimakopoulos
and colleagues were turning their raw material (wood of any kind), to
real jewels.
The end of 1994 marks a new
era for the Shipyard. The management goes to John, son of Dimitri, who
along with his uncle Lefteris make plans for the future. In this phase
the Shipyard had reached an area of 10.000 sq.m. The two young people,
with bold ideas, quickly put into effect their plan to bring sweeping
changes to the company. Simultaneously with the construction of wooden
vessels both partners prepare for what will follow. In early 2002 the
project started. The seashore below Shipyard suitably shaped and craft
approaching quickly and safely. The new Travelift with lifting capacity
of 100 tons has been assembled and is ready to act. From now on the main
activities are the hauls / launches, parking and repair of vessels. The
changes do not stop here. Under the investment plan, the company in 2005
expanded by buying adjacent land area of 10.000 m2 and a trailer to
transport and storage vessels of 60 tons. At the end of 2008 a trailer
capacity of 120 tons added to the company's fleet. Finally, the company
added to the extent of ground other 2.000 m2, reaching a total of 26.000
m2. Nowadays the site is structured to be able to receive and safely
accommodate more than 350 vessels of all types.
